MVWA Fire Hydrant Flow Testing

May 17, 2009, 2:00 pm. The Mohawk Valley Water Authority (MVWA) will be conducting fire hydrant flow testing on Wednesday, May 19th between 11 AM and 3 PM, in the following areas:

York Street (Utica) Between Goodrich Avenue and Thorn Street

Main Street (Yorkville) Between Whitesboro Street and Oriskany Boulevard

Main Street (Whitesboro) Between Tracy Street and Clinton/Mohawk Street

Hydrant flow testing may cause discolored water. Customers living in these areas and on adjacent side streets are advised to check their water before drinking or doing laundry, and not to use hot water if their cold water is discolored. The MVWA will be flushing hydrants in these areas after the fire hydrant flow testing is completed to clear up any discolored water.

There is NO boil water advisory due to this flushing effort. The water supply is NOT contaminated and normal water pressures are being maintained.

Questions concerning this notice may be directed to the Water Authority at 792-0301 ext. 1.
